One day after work last month I took a drive along the north east coast of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I had the opportunity to see Munising Falls, Miners Falls, Miners Castle overlook of Pictured Rocks and (with a zoom lens) a bit of Bridalveil Falls. This was my first trip to this area of the U.P. and it was very beautiful. I was hoping for a little more fall color but I was about a week early for peak color on this side of the U.P. There are many more waterfalls to visit in the Munising area along the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore so I will definitely be back.
This first entry is for Munising Falls. This was a very lovely waterfall located along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. This was a quick waterfall to visit with a very easy and short access trail. There were three viewing platforms for the waterfall, left, center and top right. The left view was obscured by trees but I was able to get some nice shots from both the center and top right platform. To view the gowaterfalling entry click here.
Below are some of the informational signs at the trailhead
The trail was a short, easy walk and afforded some nice shots.
Below is the view from the center platform
The trail to the upper right platform also gave me the opportunity for some fun shots with some of my favorite subjects..rocks.
